Effect of Inlet and Geometrical Parameters on the Melting of PCM Capsules of Elliptical Cross Section.

This paper focuses on the melting of phase change material capsulated in elliptical cross-section horizontal cylinder under convective boundary conditions. Different parameters are discussed, namely, HTF inlet temperature and velocity axes ratio capsule cross-section. The effect temperature, velocity, was studied using CFD software FLUENT 6.3.26. A comparison between numerical experimental results made for system. matched well with heat transfer model. It is shown that fluid (HTF) has a great process paraffin wax melting. increase increases Phase material( PCM) liquid fraction at constant charging time decreases same total geometry represented by its sensible Increasing capsule, i.e. elongated perpendicular direction flow increasing PCM weak range 0.003-0.012 m/s.
